Part of: Truth & Discernment
Science is one of the greatest tools humans have for understanding the world. But it has limits, and those limits are not a weakness. They are a boundary.
Related: God isn’t confined, yet sacred space matters.
Related: can meaning exist without God?.
Related: faith without guarantees.
Science answers questions like these:
- How do cells replicate?
- How does gravity behave?
- What happens to the body under stress?
But science cannot answer questions like these:
- Why does anything exist at all?
- Why should humans have dignity?
- What makes an action morally wrong?
That’s because science measures the physical world. It tells us how things work, not what they mean. Trying to use science to replace God is like using a thermometer to settle a court case. Wrong tool, wrong category.
When someone says, “Science disproved God,” what they usually mean is, “I don’t see where God fits inside my model.” But the Bible never places God as a tiny piece inside the universe. God is the reason the universe exists in the first place. The Creator is not a creature within the created system.
Christians should not fear science. Truth does not compete with truth. If God made reality, honest investigation of reality will not destroy God; it will highlight order, consistency, and design.
